Day 87 - June 11, 2008
Today we started our day with our morning trail walk. Then it was on to tour the Cape Blanco Lighthouse and the Hughes House which are also part of the Cape Blanco campground where we are staying. Then we drove north to Bando to walk around Old Town and the harbor and ride the scenic beach loop. We just cannot get enough of this beautiful Oregon Coast. We ended our Oregon State Park stay with a farewell camp fire at night.
We had a tour of the Cape Blanco Lighthouse and got to walk all the way up to the top. It is the oldest standing lighthouse on the Oregon coast and towers 245 feet above the ocean. It was commissioned in 1870 to aid shipping generated by the gold mining and the lumber industry. This is also the western most point in Oregon.

What a beautiful place. I have heard great things about a golf course called Bandon Dunes in Oregon. It must be near where you are. After seeing your pictures, we are definately going to have to take a trip out there.
I tell ya, I am begining to get jealous everytime I view your blog. I may have to stop.
Wish we were there!
