Day 81 - June 5, 2008
Sorry for being tardy in updating the blog but we are not staying in Internet friendly places right now. As a matter of fact, I am writing this post as we sit in the parking lot of a Best Western Motel. Pretty desperate, huh?
We are thoroughly enjoying Oregon. I even told Frank we ought to come back out here some time and be campground hosts. This is our kind of place to do something like that. The land here is simply beautiful - from the tumultuous rivers, tranquil lakes, mighty tall green trees that are giants, litter free highways and wonderful hiking opportunities. Also, the people here are very, very friendly. I guess there is a lot to be said for the tree huggers. I know you will probably see me say this again, but this campground is my favorite so far. We do our touring during the day (usually preceded by our morning walk around the camp ground). Then at night we kick back and have a wonderful relaxing fire accompanied by our favorite liquid beverage. It doesn't get any better than this. We are so very thankful for this opportunity. We are still in the "wow this is awesome" stage and haven't tired of our travels. What an opportunity to see this great land of ours.
The Rogue River Gorge. Can you believe the volume of water that is passing through this gorge? It was quite an amazing sight.
Second bad weather day in 81 days - not a bad average. However, this is supposed to be our awesome chance to see Crater Lake. Oh well, we'll try again tomorrow if the weather clears. The temperature on the rim was 31 degrees and there were snow showers. Quite amazing for June 5th.

Traveling down the highway in Oregon. Can you believe the size of these majestic Douglas firs?
