Day 71 - May 26, 2008
Today was a travel day. I tell you what, they need to repair the interstate in Oakland. We were just about "shook to death" on this drive. Hopefully this is the last big city we have to negotiate with the coach. However, once we got to the Coast Guard Training Center in Petaluma we were in for a most pleasant surprise. We were able to see all sorts of animals at this site - turkeys, geese, deer, etc. After looking at the pictures below, I think you will agree. As we were sitting out at our campfire we also got to chat with 5 Coast Guard guys who were there for the "Chief" school. Talking with these fellows was very refreshing in knowing this country is in good hands with the current military.
Our vote for the most "restful" campground. Rather than California, doesn't this camp site view look like Virginia or Pennsylvania?
Restful campfire after interesting drive through Oakland. Note our outline of the US on the passenger side window - we are making good progress in filling it in.
