Day 54 - May 9, 2008
Today was definitely a banner day for Frank. He hiked the Bright Angel Trail. Check out the 3 part pictures I've tried to capture to show you the degree of difficulty on this trail. Frank hiked 6 miles down and on the upward portion he felt he hiked 24 miles. The change in elevation for this hike was over 4,000'. How about that for an almost 62 year old man. God bless him.
As Frank was experiencing a once in a lifetime event, I was catching several ranger programs and rim hikes. I know, I am a wuss. However, I hope you enjoy the pictures below.
Part 1 of Frank's hike
Part 2 of Frank's hike - check out all those gruelling switchbacks and drops in elevation

Part 3 of Frank's hike - note the line on the left side of picture - that is the ending part of the trail on the plateau which puts you right on top of the rapids of the mightly Colorado River - what a reward for this very physical hike

Note Colorado River on the bottom right side of picture

5 California Condors there are only 301 in existence
