Day 50 - May 5, 2008
Today was another one of those phenomenal days. We spent the day on a Rainbow Bridge National Monument Cruise. This was truly awesome. Lake Powell has dramatic red rocks, shimmering Emeral-blue water and countless secluded coves and canyons. But of course the highlight was Rainbow Bridge. What a special place of spirituality and peace. This is another one of those sights that I wish each of you have a chance to visit.
It was a 50 mile boat ride up to the Rainbow Bridge. These were some of the sights along the way.
First peak at the Rainbow Bridge as we rounded the corner on our hike to reach the monument. Note that Navajo Mountain is in the background and it still has snow on it.

What an experience to be at the Rainbow Bridge National Monument. This is a very sacred place and you could feel the specialness of this area.

This gives you an idea of the seriousness of the current drought in this area. The white area on the bottom of the rocks represents the drop in water level since 1999. Hopefully, we are coming out of the drought and they expect a rise of at least 10' in the lake level due to the increased snowfall this year in Colorado and Utah.
